Toyota Avensis in British Touring Car Championship
After deciding to depart from F1 in 2009, Toyota’s activities in the world of motor-sport are seemingly perished.
But last month, Toyota made a surprise by taking part in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Toyota came with its two new Avensis which are given theme “Next Generation Touring Cars”.
The two new Avensis were driven by Tony Hughes and Frank Wrathall Jnr.
Wrathall said that his Avensis looks wondrous and he is satisfied with it.
While Hughes said that his Avensis’ performance has not been as wondrous as it looks.
Hughes could only explore one lap since his car getting fuel pump and power steering problems.
However, both cars are welcomed positively by public.
The two new Avensis are developed by Toyota in cooperation with GPR Motorsport. The development is based in Derbyshire, at Toyota’s plant.
Wrathall’s car is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine developing over 300 bhp.
The engine is said as the most powerful and lightest on the grid.
This year’s British Touring Car Championship is followed by 10 car manufacturers.
