The Replacement of Mitsubishi Outlander Will Make Debut at 2012 Geneva Auto Show

Outlander, an SUV belongs to Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi, needs some new touches to make it perfect. Some reports said that Mitsubishi is set to launch a new car at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, which may be the successor to the Outlander.

Mitsubishi still silent about this report, they only said that the car will be a “strategic and innovative premium vehicle”. They added that the car would be brought and shown to the public for the first time next March at 2012 Geneva Auto Show. As one of the biggest auto shows in the world, Geneva Auto Show seems to be one good event that will be used by Mitsubishi to show to the world their new premium vehicle.

However, some media believed that the car would be the replacement of the current Mitsubishi Outlander. They also said they have heard before that the PX-MiEV I and PX MiEV-II concepts would closely preview the next generation of the Outlander. At some media, the front-fascia of the car is inspired by the Mitsubishi’s legendary sedan, Lancer Evolution with a new design double bar grille, slender headlights and a rounded fascia appears to lend the crossover a cleaner look than the current model. Mitsubishi said that this appearance previews the future of their corporate design language.

This concept car might also preview the future of the brand’s strategy of powertrain. The next Outlander will ultimately be offered as a plug-in hybrid like the PX-MiEV and this technology will be introduced soon by the Japanese automaker at the Geneva Auto Show. The European market seems to be the first arena will be touched by Mitsubishi for this next gen Outlander. it will also be produced soon after the auto show. Unfortunately, there are no specs we can reveal because Mitsubishi still keep it as secret. It means we have to wait at least until Geneva Auto Show is officially opened next March.
