Under that fancy dress of the 2017 Ford Ranger FX4, we see a true Australian character. It’s no wonder about it as the vehicle was developed by a team of Australians, overwhelmed with an idea of creating a car, which could be perceived as fully Australian in terms of a road character.
The F2017 Ford Ranger FX4 was granted so-called ‘Stark Grey’ 18-inch alloy wheels.
On a long 3220mm wheelbase the vehicle’s ladder-frame chassis rides high enough. With the 1860mm width and 5426mm length, it boasts rather an imposing size as well as stance, born for adventure or hard work.
It comes with decent off-road credentials, such as a 25 degree ramp-over angle, 237mm ground clearance, departure angle of 21 degrees, not to mention a class-benchmark wading depth of 800mm.
The 3.2 litre five-cylinder in-line venerable turbo-diesel is considered to be one of the best powerplants ever. With a variable vane turbocharger and common rail injection at 3000rpm it offers up to 147kW.
