McLaren Automotive has just begun production process of the McLaren MP4-12C at McLaren’s factory in Woking, England.
For this 2011, McLaren Automotive is planning to produce about 1,000 units of 12C. Later on, the production process will be done mostly in McLaren’s new factory – McLaren Production Center which is located near the McLaren Technology Center.
It is said that the new factory costs about £40m, but it is still in a building process. It is scheduled to be in completion in May 2011. “Chassis 01”, designed in 2004 by Foster and Partners, however, will still be produced in McLaren Technology Center.
The supercar 12C makes its first appearance to public in July last year, in southern England, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. 12C was then revealed to American public in August 2010, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
McLaren Automotive had already prepared 35 locations around the world to launch the 12C and meet its customers. Managing Director of McLaren Automotive, Antony Sheriff, said that the launch locations will covered many prospective areas, from Los Angeles to Paris and Cape Town to Dubai.
Antony added that the McLaren MP4-12C will definitely inherit McLaren’s major characteristics: innovative, excellent, and superior.
