Mazda Brings Miata Special Edition to 2012 Chicago Auto Show
There will be something different in the Mazda’s booth at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show next week. The Japanese brand will use the auto show for its Special Edition of the MX-5. We know that the roadster having sold 900.000 examples around the world in the past 23 years. Mazda is planning to celebrate it by launching the special edition and according to Mazda; Chicago Auto Show is the best arena for it. The new trim offers a raft of styling tweaks to the Japanese roadster.
The Mazda MX-5 Special Edition is based on Power Retractable Hardtop model in the Grand Touring trim. The hardtop will appear in black paint, marking the first time Mazda has provided roof with non-body color in North America. To complement the dark roof, the Miata Special Edition will also score new white and red paint colors.
Mazda seems to be serious with this Special Edition because some changes will be done to the Miata’s equipment; Mazda will offer new 17 inches gunmetal wheels, black heated leather seats, black exterior accent pieces and piano-black interior trim. To improve the performance and comfort of the Miata Special Edition, Mazda puts Suspension and Premium packages, which brings additional premium accessories like keyless entry and ignition, limited-slip differential and Bluetooth connectivity.
Mazda said that the Special Edition would continue Miata’s heritage as dynamically engineered, enthusiasts approved roadster from Japan. The price and further details about the limited-run model will be announced officially at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.
On their booth at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, Mazda will also bring some other great cars, including Mazda Turbo2 Concept, grand-am racecar that has been used by Patrick Dempsey, Mazda Indy car racer and the most special is 1990 Miata with just 3688 on the odometer.
