Maruti Suzuki Introduces XA Alpha Concept at the Delhi Auto Show 2012
At the New Delhi Auto Show 2012, Japanese automaker’s Indian division, Maruti Suzuki introduces Juke-sized SUV named XA Alpha. The SUV concept is based on the Suzuki Swift. With 4000mm, the XA Alpha concept would be placed between the Grand Vitara and Jimny; two products of the Japanese carmaker that have been marketed for many years and still available up to today.
The physical appearance of the XA Alpha SUV concept looks sportier than the current Jimny and Grand Vitara. It gets a sharp façade, extended wheel arches and narrow, raked window lines. Such cuts are found on the current Swift.
Model like brought by the Suzuki XA Alpha gets special attention from the car enthusiasts in India. The market of such SUV is growing now and some brands are quite popular there after releasing similar models. With the XA Alpha, Maruti Suzuki seems put some hopes that they could steal the heart of the public and lift their position to be number one car manufacturer in the country. It is seen from their strategy to release the XA Alpha earlier than other brands. However, Suzuki must be ready to have competition with other names such as Ford’s Fiesta-based, EcoSport, because the American crossover planned would release in India soon after the Delhi Auto Show.
At the moment, there are no words from Suzuki related to the specifications of the XA Alpha. Some enthusiasts believed that when it is produced and released to the market, Suzuki would put 1.3-liter diesel and 1.2-liter petrol engines under its hood. The same powertrain is found on the Swift. Suzuki seems to believe that the concept would get lots of respect from the Indian public because they claim that the XA Alpha was built based on the market demand. Let’s wait until the concept turned to be a real vehicle to make sure that it is like what promised by the creator.
