An all-electric variant of the Kia Niro SUV is expected to emerge in 2018.
The car maker’s about to add a third model to its Niro line-up in 2018, with the launch of an entirely electric version. Evidently, the very addition of the 2018 Kia Niro EV will contribute to the car maker’s ambitious plan to launch up to 31 electrified cars by 2020. The car will join the plugin hybrid and hybrid versions of the Niro range.
Delivering a speech at the disclosing of the car maker’s fresh Stonic SUV, Cole said that the company is planning to introduce extra models. In 2017, This year they’re already rolling out the plug-in hybrid Niro, while 2018 will bring the electric Niro.
The 2018 Kia Niro EV will acquire the powertrain from Hyundai’s Ioniq EV. It actually includes a 28kWh Lithium-ion battery as well as electric motor, generating 119bhp and 295Nm of torque. The car’s electric ranges accounts for 174 miles.
The car maker stressed that instead of developing more bespoke electric cars, they’ll work on alternative powerplants to its basic model ranges.
