Tesla Motors is suing Top Gear

Tesla Motors is suing Top GearTop Gear (British TV series about cars) is being accused of malicious and defamation falsehood.

The accusation comes from Tesla Motors, an electric sports car company based in California.

Legal proceedings have been started by Tesla Motors against Top Gear. A writ has even been issued by the company at the High Court.

In one of its episode on December of 2008, Top Gear was broadcasting test-drive of a Tesla Roadster.

The all-electric Roadster was tested by Top Gear’s hosts: James May, Richard Hammond, and Jeremy Clarkson.

It was even raced against a combustion-engined Lotus Elise.

Unfortunately, the Roadster was running flatly. And suddenly, Jeremy Clarkson quipped that Tesla Roadster seems not be able to work in the real word.

Tesla Motors believes the reason of the car’s running flat is because that it had been set into a mode of “limp-home” by the driver.

Tesla Motors has persuaded producers of the show for broadcasting a clarification or correction. But this effort results to nothing since the producers respond negatively.

Tesla Motors now even suspects that the quip from Clarkson was actually an arrangement or set-up to ruin Tesla’s good reputation.

The electric sports car company states starting legal actions against Top Gear is the only choice left.
