Subaru introduces the XV concept

Subaru introduces the XV conceptSubaru has unveiled an all-new crossover SUV concept called the XV.

Exhibited at this year’s Shanghai auto show, the XV combines stylish form with traditional SUV practicality.

The front of the car features hexagonal design and hawk-eye headlights. These elements are in fact familiar to the Subaru stable.

The rear of the car features similar hexagon grille as the front.

Also featured in the XV is a glass of panoramic roof. It extends continuously from the windscreen until the rear window.

Inside, the seat features white leather as its base material. This white leather is nicely creating a harmonious contrast with the dark surroundings.

And fixed in the center panel is a large information display with touch panel.

EyeSight – a driver support system, is also fitted on the car. This system is equipped with an LCD monitor.

The XV is powered by a tough 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Horizontally-Opposed DOHC engine, paired with a CVT transmission.

The overall look of the Subaru XV can be considered magnificent.

Nissan NV200 – Taxi of Tomorrow

Nissan NV200 - Taxi of TomorrowNissan NV200 people carrier is to mark a departure for New York City’s taxi fleet.

The Limousine Commission and New York City Taxi has chosen the compact car as the city’s exclusive taxi.

The NV200 taxi will start operating in New York at the end of 2013, replacing the current large saloon taxicab.

Mayor Bloomberg says the Nissan NV 200 will be the most comfortable, most convenient, and safest taxi New York has ever had.

He intends the car to be an iconic New York City taxicab, so as to leverage the city’s taxi industry.

Equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine, the Nissan NV200 taxi is quite spacious inside.

It can be occupied by four passengers as well as their luggages.

The passengers can also utilize USB plugs, electrical outlet, and reading lights fitted on the taxi.

To be made in Mexico, the Nissan NV200 taxi is a revised version of the van-based car commercialized currently in the UK.

In single day, there are about 600,000 taxi passengers in the traffic of New York City.

 

Caterham Cars has new ownership

Caterham Cars has new ownershipCaterham Cars has been purchased by Team Lotus Enterprise.

The acquisition of the British sportscar maker by Team Lotus Enterprise is signaling continuation of the legendary Seven development.

A platform will also be provided, so that Caterham can make use of its “adding lightness” philosophy on its new models.

Caterham, however, will still be led by its current management team, with Ansar Ali as the Managing Director.

In fact, Caterham already has a good reputation in the motoring world. The company’s products have been acknowledged for its excellent engineering, handling, and performance.

For celebrating the acquisition, 25 units of Team Lotus Special Edition Seven will be built by Caterham Cars.

Any variant of Team Lotus, including the Superlight R500 can receive the upgrade packages.

By adding £3,000 over the standard price, buyers will have their cars to be featured with special Lotus livery of yellow and green colors.

Buyers will also receive an invitation to a tour in Hingham, at the factory of Team Lotus F1.

A Seven history book will even be included in the upgrade package. The book is signed by Mike Gascoyne – the Seven’s chief designer.

The car was built by MINI in cooperation with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

It has a precise production quality inside, featured by magnificent select materials and matching colors concept.

The door, the roof lining, the seats, and the carpet possess the exclusive color Cornsilk of Rolls-Royce.

So do the dash, including the center console, the air vents, and the central instrument.

The dash as well as the door handle possess the exclusive wood of Rolls-Royce.

And the multifunction steering wheel buttons are surfaced with Piano Black finishes.

The car is powered by a l.6-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 184 bhp, combined with variable valve control, direct petrol injection, and Twin Scroll turbocharger.

Another notable equipments include Cashmere roof linings, rear storage tray, sun visors, and foot mats.

Park Distance Control, Xenon Adaptive Headlights, automatic AC, audio system, and on-board computer come as standard equipments.

Pricing has not been published, but seemingly the MINI Inspired By Goodwood is an expensive car.
