A newly spotted 2018 Renault Megane Renault Sport is supposed to top 300bhp just to take on Civic Type R. The vehicle’s official showcase will take place at Frankfurt show, in September.
The camouflaged car was driven by Nico Hülkenburg, Renault F1 driver on the well-known street circuit, so spectators could get a long-awaited glimpse of its performance and design ahead of the vehicle’s official presentation.
Unlike its lairy-looking counterpart, the Honda Civic Type R, the 2018 Renault Megane Renault Sport has rather a subtle exterior design.
The car maker has stood away from commenting on what will power its new model, although sources expect a lot from the turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder powertrain used in the Alpine A110.
The fresh 1.8 ensures 236lb ft and 249bhp, although power is expected to exceed 300bhp in the Renault Sport hot hatch. It would hypothetically give the vehicle a real chance versus such counterparts as the 306bhp Civic Type R.
